Afroplacebo: A continental mess

"It takes Idiots to be ruled by Fools" -Tunde Bakare

How can we be blessed with so much but yet the majority of us wallow in lack?
There is nothing wrong with being black! That seems to be the conclusion of the best seller by a successful black man. One must salute the thorough work and the depth of insights with which the author; Mattew Ashimolowo dissected this thorny issue of backwardness that has become a fixture among the people of color. Africa remains the most backward continent in the world. Here, people have found a way to live with poverty. What is perhaps more appalling is the hitherto paradox that exist. Majority of African states in spite of political independence still depend on handouts from supranational agencies. Keeping a distance from the knotty issues surrounding Africa and the sorry state of her peoples (a sure path of least resistance) I reckon is not a sensible thing to do. The remnant of us shall not tire out nor shall we resign to fate.

Africa will need more than placebo to rise
Sorry to burst the bubble of those who have come under willful illusion and parody of lies. One cannot but notice the several formations of some disillusioned individuals who have been ejaculating spuriously on the ignoble altar of denial. These hallucinating bunch have made it an enterprise to infect the masses of our people with their venom of false hopes. They come bearing lousy manifestos capable of getting even the most conservative high. These people tout our growing population as a strength; they join their voices with those of the plundering foreigners to get us high. What about food production? What about decency? What about peace? Human life still doesn't count for much in this clime or does it? The black man has a penchant for declaring victory too early. We rest on our oasis too soon. Our euphoria must cease. Let those who have enough sense know that we are far off the mark. In fact, we have not even started. Yes! we have many things to be grateful for but we are guilty of complacency.

There are things to do and places to go.
We must set forth at dawn. We must stop fooling ourselves. Who ever came up with the idea that somebody else will develop our own land for us? That's the most insane idea I have ever come across. Collaborate we must but the terms must be clear. Our capacity to produce and process our own resources must not be sacrificed. Enough of being cowardice. Africa led before. We created a wonder for all. We can do it again. The pyramids testify of the ingenuity of our ancestors. Necessity is laid upon us to rise above the present self inflicted limitations. We must break the cycle of oppression. We must do away with selfishness and self-serving inhibitions. We must pick up the pieces and take the little quick steps to the future. The road won't be easy. There will be dark days ahead but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

How shall these things be?
As with everything spiritual, I reckon that God will not do for man what man should do for himself. We will in addition to having to let go of foolishness take the necessary steps to build a nation of godly and goodly virtues. A nation is first a spiritual entity and God is the Governor among the nations. Absurdity is the first proof of truth (Olakunle Soriyan). Tomorrow is no longer a distant prospect.
