Thinking is required

Any faith that frees man of playing his part is an irresponsible faith. God will not do for man what man should do for himself but it is not given to man to play God.

Really, what is man?
Its funny how man becomes so religious to the point of divorcing common sense in matters where thinking is required. The man (Karl Marx) that said religion is the opium of the masses knew well the propensity of man to tend to often find solace in something. There is a vacuum in man that only God can fill. I won't stop reciting the fact that man is spirit who lives in a body and has a soul. Emphasis here is that man is spirit. Wisdom is required here.

Do we even know who we worship?
Every right thinking African know quite well that the white man did not only bring along his guns, he came with the Bible and education. The Quran didn't just appear, the evangelistic Muslim traders bequeathed their faith to us. Our fore fathers were traditional worshipers. They knew God but their route-to-worship was extremely fetish. Much of their ways were diabolic and barbaric. Their science was crooked and that explains why whatever they couldn't explain, they mystified. Take for instance in the Yoruba mythology, the dreaded god of thunder; Sango was feared and obeisance was paid to him. Legend has it that he had two wives; Oya and Osun. Incidentally, the two of them have till this day goddess status.  Leaving the issues of theology for theologians, I have a bone of contention I wish to deal with. If both Christianity and Islam are alien to us in Africa the same way western education is, why do some take it upon themselves to fight for God? If religion is really all about God and not about our blind selfishness, why do we so foolishly revolt against God's creation?

Who believes in only what they see?
I have enough sense in me to say that the division and subsequent enslavement of Africa by the whites was an event that came to be by God's very own pre-determinate counsel. I know this because God is the governor among the nations. He (God) permitted this act for a purpose. His ways are bigger than the ways of men. While our absolute mind may find it hard to believe or accept because we are constantly aggregating stuffs, it is not unrighteous of God to permit such. In any case, such a theology rightly appeals to the mind of one who believes in the existence of a supreme being. For one who say in his heart, there is no God, this paragraph is at best a mambo-jumbo. Although, fools believe in only what they see.

Christianity is not a religion but a life.
I dare say that those who under the guise of holy-war take the lives of others do so not because they believe in God but because they have identity crisis. God does not need man to fight for him. Those who build schools that their members cannot afford to send their wards for whatever reason should go and study the antecedents of those that handed over the faith to them.  I can only speak confidently as a professing Christian and this is what I have to say. The time is coming and now is when there will be a distinction between those who worship God in spirit and truth. The father seeks such.
