The future will be created

Image
I am a dreamer and dream is what I choose to do. It is true that an image tells a thousand words. Such is the effect of image on we homo sapiens. We human beings think in images. When I say Apple, what comes to your mind in not A-P-P-L-E  but the picture of a red or green fruit. This piece may not pass for a regular post. The image herein is so inspiring to me. I can't remember who said it but I agree absolutely with the philosophy that the future is a function of design. The image above is highly counter-intuitive to today's reality but the future will be created. I choose to believe. What do you think the future hold for this land? Image Credit: Emeka Okereke

Audacity of Hypocricy: The best of us has failed

Image
It is highly hypocritical for pot to call kettle black- Age-long wisdom   How many times have we failed to act-out our words. Broken promises have become familiar spirits. How many times do we demand from others much higher standards than we demand of ourselves. Is it true that everyone is a thief but only the one(s) that gets caught is called a criminal? One minute we are quoting from the holy scriptures, another minute we are defending the rights of a bunch to self-destruct. You hear stuffs like " Don't ruffle feathers ". " Be careful not to badge too much into the walls ".  If you do too much, you become controversial. If you play sidon-look , you are doomed to be irrelevant. This piece is not about what "they" said or didn't say. It is about how hypocrisy rules in the hall-way of fame and obscurity. A colleague at work sent me an online article that examined this subject. The author didn't mince words a...

All I want is your eye: A freedom tale

Image
" I didn't give birth to a fool ". These were my dad's words. I ran home again after being bullied by kids who didn't look as healthy as I was. I was in all material respect taller and should probably have been the bully but got bullied anyways. This is a story of a young boy who snatched himself from the wicked jaws of bullies. There comes a time in life when we have to stand up against our adversity. To overcome our demons, we sometimes have to get frontal. This is not in any way an excuse for violence. However, freedom is rarely given freely. It must be demanded. Growing up, I had my fair share of the good, the bad and the damn right ugly. I guess this is not a big deal as everyone seems to have their own account of the three elements (the Good, Bad & Ugly). I enjoyed the late night sitcoms which saw the streets empty. No one wanted to miss any part of any episode. I loved playing hide and seek using my well sculpted wooden gun my...

3D Printing: The future will be printed

Image
In the immediate future, with the aid of 3D printing, men and women won't have to argue over whose role it is to cook. # PrintIt     I am a very keen individual on all matters relating to start ups especially technology driven ideas. This is a matter of necessity as much as a choice. What do you expect of someone who witnessed the very dramatic effect of technology on people. I saw with my own eyes the end of an era and the rise of another. I have witnessed the disruptive capability of technology. How can I forget the typists of the olden days. We dreaded the typing pool in my college days.     I remember how the business studies teacher caused huge anguish in the soul of many scholars. Today, shorthand is replaced by a nuance of lol (LAUGH OUT LOUD), RODF (rolling on the floor), e.t.c. In a weird sense, I miss the beautiful music that was created by the typewriters but I am more thankful for ...
