Just before you shoot!

A student of life. A marksman of dreams.A Bow and an Arrow. These are the contents in the arsenal of an Archer. I have chosen yet another way to go; combining literal literature with metaphor. Hybrid paradigm. I will explore this topic from a philosophical perspective; an angle that affords me the opportunity to share with my reader(s) some of the gems and nuggets that sit in the capital of my mind. You must be familiar with the phrase Bow & Arrow; a phrase that reminds one of warfare and the ancient age when the only weapon at the disposal of the valiant was the Bow & Arrow. The Bow & Arrow; a perfect item in the hands of the warrior-valour was used in assailing the opposition in deadly combats. The shooter armed with the item; Bow & Arrow aims at the target and hits the target. This description can be captured in a more dramatic manner like this- "The valiant shooter with his Bow & Arrow prepares himself, aims at the opposition in an anticipated ...

One Week! One Problem!

The cooking began like i imployed. This was however in an unceremonious fashion(I envisaged a grand launch). The first in the series of what we will cook was my critic of the ivory towers' bamboozling idologies where i defined management; taking a cue from a mentor as common sense put to work. Alast the cooking has began! I was conversing with some friends; a typical group discuss at work very early in the morning. The gathering was a fall out of the news in the dailies. The president of the most populous black African nation breaks the deadlock finally speaks on phone from his Saudi hospital bed Divergent views emanated from this ludicrous headline. While some responded to it in utmost dismay (reactions not unusual), some others were quick to express their appreciation to God (at least the president is alive). As an active participant in some mini-debates as this (we have debates like this from time to time), i could only wonder why these drama seem to replay...

Common Sense

T he last time I made a perusal of the memoirs of a manager; I came very close to a point of saturation; where questions began to pop up in my mind in a sequence similar to a web page (You know the way stuffs just pop up on these pages). Let me be quick to assert that I am deeply humbled by a lot of things and this statement believe me is not another plot to show some deep humility. Not that I don’t embrace the virtue of Humility; in fact I am a proponent of this; that the proud shall be abased. However, this is not a Humility session. Back to the issue at hand. I have a lot of traffic in the capital of my mind at this moment and like I said these are questions that stirred up in my mind. Management by Values has been said to guarantee optimum delivery and more (Ken Blanchard Paraphrased). Management is a trade-off between Revelation and Results; Action. Getting things done through people and with people (Mary Parker Folliet). A social process entailing the responsibility for e...

Let us cook!

I beg of you in advance to permit my display of tribal chauvinism. I am a citizen of the world, of African origins, a black man with a polished Yoruba accent. I am very aware of the gravity of everything I do. Good neighborliness as a virtue in Africa will encompass a wide variety of things and a list inexhaustible. I promise to manage my liberality. I come with the gospel of the "pot". I am cooking something as it is and I invite you to join me. I have chosen the metaphorical route in this instance. We will cook together. The artistry in cooking is ingenious. The symbolism is real. Men will gather there in a round-table conference under the tree with a gourd of palm wine (a pot modified), women will carry the pots on their heads or shoulders, they will cook in the pots, serve in plates (modified pots). They even store their treasures in the earthen vessels. Much is done with the pot. This is my drift. My proposition in this dispensation is not far fetched. In fa...
